Welcome at the updated and upgraded Pumi Database, the largest independent database about pumis on the web!
The migration of the Database became imminent when our old host, extra.hu announced that they would cease their free hosting services with April 1, 2010. Since the Database is financed by the editors themselves, of course we had to think twice about how to proceed. We decided that we did not want to pay for hosting, and are now therefore hosted by the host of Veresi Akácos Pumi Kennel. In the future, we will be reachable through our own domain, but until then, this sub-domain remains.
Since it was clear we had to move, Noncsi thought that it was time to do a face-lift on the Database to give it a more modern look. It also means that the whole site has become dynamic – a break with good old .html pages. This is to prove our committment and our professionalism
.
We are still in the process of migrating all the date – for those of you who have known the Database previously it is not a surprise since it really consists of a lot of data. It is a huge work to migrate everything accurately.
We know that the Database hasn’t been updated lately. There is only a few of us who work on the data, with our own private lives, and unfortunately we had to face the fact that in spite of all our calls for help, volunteers were not really knocking down our doors. As if no-one cared about this database. (Maybe it is ture, and no-one else cares. But then who are all these visitors using the site?) We have not given up the hope yet to find some assistance in Hungary and abroad.
The Database is also going to expand in functionalities, by creating new matrixes from old data. This will then in turn give us a better overview of the pumi pupulation than before.
So, we are still looking for volunteers who would like to help us with the maintenance and update of the Database, In practice this means filling in excel sheets (how boring) with all sorts of data, which will then be turned over into the database.
We are also looking for amateur and professional photographers, who have taken photos, videos at evenets, as well as owners submitting their own photographs of their dogs.
The editors wish you a pleasant time browsing through these pages:
