I heard that pumis are quite noisy. Is that true?

Yes, pumis can be very noisy though I prefer to call them “communicative”. This is inherent in their character and very easy to explain. With their relatively small size for their job as herding dogs and watchdogs, there remained only one weapon for the pumi: his often piercing, high-pitched voice that mainly serves as a signal. Having lived with a pumi for some time, you will instinctively learn when to pay attention to the barking. Like any intelligent dog, pumis can be easily trained to keep quiet when they need to.
